Worship

I had my son create a CD for the me the other day of worship songs. When I asked him to put it together for me, I didn't ask for any particular songs or any particular artists. So as I began to listen to it on my way to and from work I had no pre-conceived notions of songs I liked or songs I didn't like. He did a good job of putting it together and I really like the songs. This may be hard for some to understand while others will understand exactly what I'm saying .. but most of the songs would just send your heart soaring as you listened to them.

However, one song on the CD just didn't do it for me. It was a beautiful song, but I just didn't feel the same as I listened to it. As I thought on the reasons for this, I realized the difference between this song and others. While the other songs were all about Jesus, this one was more about the person doing the singing. Now I don't mean that the song was "doctrinally" incorrect or anything like that, just that the artist was singing about their own feelings and emotions.

Jesus said that when the Holy Spirit came he would "glorify Me", and when I listen to worship that glorifies God, the Spirit inside of me just says "Yes!". Real worship is never about us ... it's always about Him.

John 16:13-14 Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth, is come, he will guide you into all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall shew it unto you.

Welcome to my Blog!

I've wanted to create a blog for a couple of years now, so I've finally done it. Not sure why ... I guess it's just because I have things I want to say from time to time and maybe this is a good way to do it. I can't promise I'll post on a regular basis ... sometimes life just doesn't allow that. But my intention is to post at least once a week, so we'll see how it goes. Anyway, for those of you reading thanks for stopping by!
